The British Casino Awards is now open for entries and nominations. The leading event for the gaming sector will return to London (at The May Fair) on Tuesday, 4th February 2020 to benchmark and celebrate excellence for a third consecutive year.
Reflecting the changing face of the gaming industry, the 2020 event will see the introduction of two brand new categories.
Best Use of Online will cover casinos with the best use of online space in the promotion of British casinos. It’s not just for a casino with a website, or a white label gaming site tied by name to an existing casino. It’s for the casino using its site, app or other online or mobile presence to best attract and retain customers, and to further its reach and brand identity.
Best Slot Game will be awarded to a game that has gained popularity in the British gaming sector, and which was launched to market in 2019. The winning slot game should demonstrate profitability, return visits, time at machine, spend per player per visit. Individual games that are part of a multigame offering are also permitted to participate.
How does it work?
Stage 1: First is the entry and nomination stage, where both manufacturers and operators are invited to enter into any of the relevant categories using the online form available on www.britishcasinoawards.co.uk. You can also nominate other companies and individuals for any of the categories, using the same simple online form.
The entry process has three simple steps: select your categories (you can select multiple categories at the time of entering or nominating), supply the required details and supporting information and media, and add your contact details. While providing supporting information is optional, it’s important that you write a great short statement and upload any additional relevant information as it will be presented in front of a judging panel.
The awards themselves are split into three sections: ‘Operators’, ‘Products’ and ‘Industry’.
The ‘Operators’ section includes: Independent UK Casino Operator of the Year, Multiple UK Casino Operator of the Year, Best UK Casino Customer Service, Best UK Marketing Programme of the Year, European Casino Operator of the Year, Best UK Casino Restaurant of the Year, Best Use of Online and Overall Casino Operator of the Year.
The ‘Products’ categories are: Best Slot Game, Best Slot Machine, Best UK CMS/Software Product and Best UK Table Gaming Product.
The ‘Industry’ Awards are: Corporate Training Investment Award, Rising Star, CHIPS Community Engagement Award, CHIPS Corporate Community Engagement Award, Casino International Outstanding Contribution Award, National Casino Forum Diversity & Inclusion Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
The deadline for entries and nominations is Friday, 1st November.
Stage 2: In the ‘Operators’ and ‘Products’ categories, the decision-making process will begin with an online industry vote – which will allow professionals to make their voices heard and produce a shortlist of five per category.
This shortlist will then be reviewed by a panel of independent industry experts, who will decide upon the ultimate winner in each category.
The ‘Industry’ Awards will not be subject to the online vote and will instead proceed straight to the judging panel. The independent panel of anonymous industry experts will review each entry/nomination against a strict set of criteria and determine a shortlist, and ultimately the winner.
Finalists for all categories will be announced in December, before the winners are revealed at The British Casino Awards ceremony taking place at The May Fair London on Tuesday, 4th February 2020.
As always, the British Casino Awards will look to give back to the industry by supporting Chips charity – which was founded on behalf of the UK gaming industry, in order to raise funds to purchase specialised powered wheelchairs for youngsters with varying disabilities.
With the growing success of the awards ceremony in mind, many sponsors were keen to get on board early and show their support for the 2020 event. Those who have already put their weight behind the British Casino Awards include: The National Casino Forum, Cammegh, Everi, Interblock, Novomatic, TCSJOHNHUXLEY and the European Casino Association.
